I am wrapping up day 9 of the Walsh Detox Protocol, one more day to go! The last few days have been pretty tough. I have all the signs of being in too deep of a caloric deficit for too long, low energy, bad mood, cold hands and feet, foggy head. By far the worst was day 8 the second day of phase 2 and fasting mimicking diet. Outside of being sick, I have never eaten so few calories, so I think that is having an effect on me.
Here is sample of my meal for the past three days.
That’s about 4 cups of veggies, half an onion, half a cup of leeks, and 3 cloves of garlic. I cooked it in 1 tbsp of coconut oil and topped it with 1 tbsp of olive oil. I washed it down with some Topo Chico.
Finally today on day 9, I felt somewhat normal. The brain fog was gone, I had some energy, and I was not nearly as moody or cold. I don’t know if this has anything to do with it, but my ketones were sky high today at 4.5 mmol, where as yesterday they were 0.6 mmol. Again, not sure if it is related or not but to me it would seem to make sense that if more ketones were available to be consumed, that my body would have more fuel available to use. I am also wondering about electrolytes. I have been using Real Salt consistently throughout, but maybe I need more, not sure. I have been adding a tad more salt over the past few days.
Exercise has been pretty much constant. I am back to doing intervals on the treadmill this week. By the way, I prefer to be running outside, but the point here is to sweat. Unfortunately, it’s now cold enough outside that it is kind of hard to build up a good sweat so I have been using the treadmill.
That is it for now. I will write up a final summary of my whole experience once I get my updated toxicity score from the Blood Calculator.
